Set Design sharpened me as an artist & coordinator because it requires the tackling of so many crafts & processes. From fabrication & scheduling a build to curating an aesthetic true to the character & the creator of the story. You are always thrown drastically different prompts & as a designer..you owe it to the story to create a place for it to come to life.

The featured work is accompanied by a short narrative about client vision, identity & an artists role.

A client’s vision is the backbone to the creative process. The inspiration for this Mother’s Day product shoot for an eco friendly flower company was “natural light, Anthropologie inspired, thrown together flowers.”

Approaching

the project while maintaining the integrity of the client’s vision is the dance of a creator. Not all clients have a sense of direction for design but the mission is the same. Create a voice that is in harmony with the brand & speaks to the customer in a beautiful & exciting way.

20th Century Fox, “Empire”

“ Working with the Director of Photography to ensure any contribution gets artful screen time is essential to successfully working with brands to elevate a film. “

Empire achieved it’s aesthetic through essential brand & artist partnerships, fostered by the design team.

Product placement becomes an essential collaboration to accompany a budget & scale the production value of a project.

Curating & Art pArTnerships

Set Design is an ambitious field to create a gallery space for important & influential artwork.

As a designer, it is my honor to deepen & enrich a narrative through choices that invite worlds to story-tell together.

Creating space for art in set design brought me in collaboration with galleries & legendary voices in art of our time, including Kehinde Wiley, Ebony G. Patterson, Nina Chanel Abney, Nick Cave, Amy Sherald, Carrie Mae Weems & Dawoud Bey.

Curating works inspired by character design is a testament to the depth & approach I bring to creating.
